About the Parade

The first annual Alsatia Mummers Parade was held on Halloween in 1921. It was met with such widespread public approval that it quickly became an annual tradition—paused only during a few years due to World War II, the COVID-19 pandemic, and an unusual winter storm. Today, the parade is proudly recognized as “Hagerstown’s Favorite Tradition” and stands as the city’s largest single annual event.  The parade features a wide variety of entries, including floats, bands, "Mummers", majorettes, color guards, drill teams, cheer and dance groups, scouts, 4-H clubs, and schools in special costumes. Always held on the last Saturday of October, the parade continues rain, snow, or shine.

The parade route begins on North Potomac Avenue just passed Charles Street and ends at the intersection of South Potomac and Howard Street. The entire South Potomac Section is referred to as the Judging Area - this runs from south of Locust Point Grocery to intersection of Memorial Blvd.

Public restrooms are located at the north end in staging areas, public square and by bester elementary school. For more information about the Alsatia Mummers Parade go to https://www.alsatiaclubinc.com/parade/
