Launched in the Fall of 2012, the Inspired program utilizes relationships with world renowned artists and inspirational speakers inviting them to visit with Washington County students at the Maryland Theatre. The Maryland Theatre will host workshops, classes and performances for the benefit of our local youth.
The Maryland Theatre, in partnership with Authentic Community Theatre, Inc., is thrilled to announce the Performing Arts Academy, a week-long summer program for students entering grades K-12.
The partnership between the Maryland Theatre and Authentic Community Theatre resulted in a realization of their common mission: to bring arts opportunities to students in Washington County. Authentic Community Theatre seeks to utilize the arts as a catalyst for social change and enhanced community cohesion. They accomplish this mission by offering educational opportunities for students to explore the creative arts and processes, as well as providing professional opportunities for local artists.
In 2012, the Maryland Theatre launched its newest student-focused initiative, Inspired, which utilizes relationships with world-renowned artists and inspirational speakers, inviting them to visit Washington County students. Their vision also includes investing in the students by hosting workshops, classes, and programs, where artists share their talents and skills through instruction.

Students will have fun preparing scenes, songs, and dances all while learning vocal technique, stage presence, acting, and choreography under ACT’s talented instructors.
